I love my Dad!

May 3rd, 2007 at 03:46 am

I opened the mail today and my Dad sent me an envelope with a cheque inside for $5000...no note or anything.

I talked to him later in the day and he said it was 'just because'. Hmmm...now he does do this every so often, but it's usually because he's sold some property, or lent my brother some money so he's trying to be fair. This was for no reason other than he felt like it. My Dad doesn't have any money worries and has done extremely well for himself.

We'll just tuck the money into the ef for now. It's fully funded back up to 3 months of expenses (and then some), but since I won't be working in the summer and won't be bringing in any money, I'm sure it will come in handy. What a guy my Dad is!

I told Dh that I was taking the cheque, cashing it in, and going on a HUGE spending spree. He didn't even blink--knows me and my frugal ways too well!

Broken Arrow...I'll check with him on the adoption issue. He may trade you for my brother!

Ima...it was totally nice of him. He is a super thoughtful and kind person on all levels. I am so proud to have him for my Dad!

What a nice surprise! My Dad lives on very little, but when we lived in the same city he gave me surprise gifts of his labor and skill. One time I went out of town and when I came back he had stripped and repainted a bathroom window I had talked about refinishing.

    How nice, Joan!

My Dad needs help changing lightbulbs, so we leave him completely out of any type of handiwork that needs to be done...safer all around!

That is wonderful. I'm sure he enjoys being able to do it. We loaned our YD and her new husband $5000.00 to help buy their new home. We were glad to do it, besides they will pay us back someday when they sell the house. If we don't need it at that time, we will tell them to keep it. I would buy my SIL a new car if I could (served in Iraq for seven months and is going back again sometime this year).
